we had a nice rain yesterday and this morning there is fog in the valley. E dog wanted to go for a walk, so we headed up the road. We got quite a ways up the road when I decided to take a short cut across an old stock tank catchment that had washed out. I made it out in the middle when I realized I made a terrible mistake. The years of rain had deposited a nice think layer of sticky red clay and  I almost got glued in. the small grass covering on the clay didn’t help at all.

after I got back and spent an hour cleaning my boots I went down to Wind Sprit to see about hooking my puter up to their line. I went up to Don’s place which is a small adobe covered dome with a recent addition of sleeping platform/ entry way. Don is a real propeller head and has all the cool electronic stuff at his cabin. The most interesting thing I saw is the pad and pen that he uses rather than a mouse. He says that he just hates to use a mouse and after getting the hang of the pen and pad he will never go back.  while I was there he got a call from the gal that has borrowed his little diesel Izusu truck which wouldn’t start. She was down in Winkleman at the PO. I took him down in the red truck to have a look  at it since I have a good selection of tools and jumper cables in it. It turned out to be just loose battery cables.  He had told her to check them and she said that she had. I know that she hadn’t as one terminal was sloppy loose. She may have opened up the hood and  looked…J

when we got back Don found a cord to hook up my laptop to their network line. It is good!!! I didn’t get to hook it up so I could use my mail program so I am having to go to the Earthlink site and use the mail program there. I can write in a word doc and paste to the mail program so that is much better. I can attach photos too.
